NEET UG 2025: 18 New Government MBBS Colleges And 2400+ Seats Added in Government and Deemed Colleges for MCC All India Counselling

The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has released the updated NEET UG 2025-26 seat matrix, adding more than 2,400 MBBS seats across government medical colleges and deemed universities in India. Since Round 1 of NEET UG 2025 counselling has already been completed, these new MBBS seats will be available from Round 2 of All India Quota (AIQ) counselling onwards. With this seat increase, aspirants now have better chances in MBBS admission 2025, BDS admission, and All India medical counselling for top institutes including AIIMS, JIPMER, ESIC, and state government colleges.

Key Highlights of MCC NEET UG 2025-26 Seat Matrix

  • 18 new government medical colleges approved with nearly 1,200 MBBS seats.
  • 970 MBBS seats added in existing government colleges across Assam, Jammu & Kashmir, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, and West Bengal.
  • 550 MBBS seats approved in 9 deemed universities located in Karnataka, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, and Odisha.
  • These seats will be available in upcoming rounds of MCC All India UG Counselling 2025.

Seat Increase in Existing Government Colleges

The MCC has also approved additional MBBS seats in existing government institutions. Some of the major changes are:

  • Assam: 125 additional seats across Guwahati, Silchar, and Dibrugarh.
  • Jammu & Kashmir: 190 additional seats across Baramulla, Jammu, Srinagar, Kathua, and Doda.
  • Karnataka: 400 additional seats in institutes such as Mysore, Belagavi, Hassan, Raichur, Bengaluru, and Bellary.
  • Madhya Pradesh: 75 additional seats at Bundelkhand Medical College and GMC Chhindwara.
  • Punjab: 50 additional seats at Guru Govind Singh Medical College, Faridkot.
  • West Bengal: 75 additional seats at Kalyani and Diamond Harbour medical colleges.

Seat Expansion in Deemed Universities

The following deemed universities have received approval from MCC for increased MBBS intake:

  • Karnataka: JGMM Medical College – 50 seats.
  • Maharashtra: Bharati Vidyapeeth (Pune & Sangli) – 200 seats combined; Datta Meghe, Nagpur – 50 seats; MGM Aurangabad – 50 seats.
  • Tamil Nadu: VELS, Bhaarat, and Sri Lalithambigai Colleges – 150 seats combined.
  • Odisha: Institute of Medical Sciences & SUM Hospital – 50 seats.
