The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has officially extended the resignation facility for Round 1 of NEET UG Counselling 2025. According to the latest notice, candidates can resign their allotted seat without forfeiture of the security deposit till 05:00 PM on 03 September 2025.
This crucial update means that the Round 2 counselling process will now begin only after this deadline, followed by the release of the seat matrix and the start of the choice filling process.
Why MCC Round 2 is Delayed?
Earlier, MCC had announced that Round 2 of NEET UG 2025 Counselling would start on 29 August 2025. However, the schedule has been extended due to the following reasons:
- Increase in MBBS seats across various medical colleges.
- The need to update the seat matrix before the start of choice filling.
- Ensuring all new MBBS seats are included so that students have more options.
Revised Round 2 Counselling Process (Expected)
- Resignation of Round 1 seats – allowed until 03 September 2025, 5 PM.
- Seat matrix publication – expected immediately after 3rd September.
- Choice filling & locking – will begin once the updated seat matrix is uploaded.
- Seat allotment results – to be declared after completion of choice filling.
Important Points for Candidates
- If you are not satisfied with your Round 1 seat, you can resign without losing your security deposit before the deadline.
- Regularly check the MCC official website for updates.
- Expect more MBBS seats to be available in Round 2 due to the additions.
